Breakfast (2007)

“Breakfast” is part of the “On the Table” series. This series was created in 2007 and ideas were expanded from the year 2007 to 2009. The concept of “On the Table” series came about through the love for painting still life of everyday objects and a place where time stands still for contemplations and contained memories.

 

“Breakfast” documents the artist’s playful exploration in origami folding, (drawn in graphite), plaster paris casted objects ( oil painted the milk carton cast) and the artist’s symbolic use of fishes which was adopted by early Christians. Artist was also influenced by a plate of Nasi Lemak, drawn by the fond memories of its simple taste of the ikan bilis (small dried fishes) since her childhood days. The placement of these subjects creates a poetic narratives about relationships , where dialogues and close conversations takes place “at the table”- the environment one lives in.
