Lim Win Nie- Contemporary Artist
King Solomon once said, “There is nothing new under the sun.”
But, we all have inspirations. Art is a glorious gift from God and in the process of creation, lies the joy of God’s creation heartbeat. When I need an infusion of creativity, I look into the Word of God-The bible. Much of my works are silent dialogues inspired from the word of God. It is like my visual diary.
- Win Nie
Win Nie (born 1981) aspired to be an artist since at a young age of 6. She is now an artist teacher; currently a full time art educator teaching in a secondary school. She finds joy participating and exhibiting in various platforms. She is happily married and serves in Emmanuel Christian Church.
In 2019, she joins the Arts Collective group and participated iin the Pop Art Exhibition at arts@Work, at Far East Plaza. In 2018, she participated in “aedge- of thoughts and processes” (an annual art teachers’ exhibition) as well as a short meaningful stint, being one of the embroiders and art performers of “Letters to Theo” at the Esplanade, together with House Da Opera (Singapore).
Win Nie graduated from the University of Tasmania (Ba. In Contemporary Arts in 2015) , had her training in National Institute of Education (NIE) in Dip of teaching (art) (2011) and was also studying at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Dip. In Fine Arts, 2007).
Though her art practice started in the Fine Arts (Oil Painting), she finds freedom in constantly exploring many other mediums especially the assemblage/ sculptural ways in response to the ordinary and familiar objects around her. Her all -time favourite painting mediums is using the oil pastel, a medium she uses since childhood days. Much of her works are silent dialogues inspired from the word of God- it is like her visual diary. She hopes that viewers will take time to enter into every work.
