Revelation 21:1-2 (NIV)
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
启示录 21:1-2 Chinese Contemporary Bible
接着我看见一个新天新地,因为以前的天地都消逝了,海洋也不复存在了。 我又看见圣城新耶路撒冷从天上的上帝那里降下,预备好了,像妆饰整齐等候新郎的新娘。
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
加拉太书 2:20 Chinese Contemporary Bible (Simplified)
我已经与基督一同被钉在十字架上,现在活着的不再是我,而是基督活在我里面。我现在是靠信上帝的儿子而活着,祂爱我,为我舍命。
囍 or double happiness is a traditional ornament design commonly used in chinese wedding cards and it is a symbol of marriage. The inspiration comes from the verses found in Revelation 21:1-2 where it describes the bride beautifully dressed for her husband. In this case, the bride is the church and the husband is Jesus Christ Himself. It talks about those in Christ who make up the church preparing herself for the great wedding. Usually the bride will go through months of beautification, taking care of her whole physical well-being in order to prepare for her big day. This union means that each party is no longer alone but united. Like what is described in Galatians 2:20—our faith in Christ who gave himself to us and we living in Him.
